Professor Xiong obtained his PhD in materials science at Central South University. He has been engaged in the research of advanced materials for many years, mainly including the materials of aircraft brake, ablative resistant materials of aerospace, new materials of powder metallurgy, etc. He undertook two national 973 projects, five national 863 projects, four projects from National Natural Science Foundation, several national defense projects.
Awarded the first prize and second prize of National Award for Technological Invention, four first prize of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress; authorized 25 national invention patents and published more than 200 papers in international journals such as Nature Communications and Carbon; published one monograph; solved a series of technical problems of key new materials for aerospace and civil use, and built a number of major innovative achievements which have contributed to the modernization of national defense and the construction of national economy.
